Okay we need some help on my brother's engine. Does anyone have a write up or can help me out on how to prime the oil pump on an LT1? Thanks ahead for the help!

Only way I know of is to pull fuel pump fuse, pull spark plugs and crank away.

Just watch the oil pressure gauge in the car. Should start building after 3-5 sec.I just pull the to 7.5 amp injector fuses.

Re: Priming the oil pump

whats the point in turning the engine over to pre lube it? i thought the point was to make the oil pump lube the engine before its turned over. ive always heard "take the intake off and manually rotate the oil pump", i believe thats the best way.

well, being that everything should be covered in assembly lube/cam lube, a few revolutions to build oil pressure is fine. it is alot different then starting the motor.

To me this is a very accurate statement.

When I rebuilt my 350 for my truck when I was assembling it I ensure every surface got lubed, and I primed the oil pump but if I hadn't primed it I still think it would have been fine.

With the LT1 you still prime it from the top but with the intake off right??
