Pretty much stock tune???

All I have done to the car is TBB, !Screen, K&N CAI, Hooker Catback. Is it worth it to have madz28 do a new tune for me??

Re: Pretty much stock tune???

Thats not true, a good tune even on a stock car will pick up typically 15rwhp at least.

Sorry. I assumed 15rwhp was not worth the cost, only considering that more mods would be in the immediate future. I forget some guys don't want to do anything but exhaust and intake.

I plan on doing more in the future. It will be 5 or 6 months down the road however. I was just wondering if it was worth it in the mean time.

If you are going to the drag strip and plan on racing, I would do it. If not, just hold on to your money for the next 6 months. Again, this is coming from someone with very shallow pockets.

Well, i'm sure that madz28 is just like us where we give heavey discounts to people who already have our tune. You never have to pay full price twice.

A tune is defintly worth it. When I got mine i noticed it and I only had Intake and Exhaust at the time. It was probably the second most noticable mod next to headers. If you want you could just save and get headers first and get a tune then but if your not planning on buying headers I would go ahead and get a tune becasue it's defintly worth the money.

I think 13-15 RWHP is TOTALLY worth the $80 + $13 shipping. Try and name a few other mods with the same or better cost/value ratio.

As for updating you get 2 months of free updates and then $40 + shipping afterwards.

Agreed Ion! Say you buy a 400$ Catback system, your lucky to get like 10hp, and really you dont even feel that extra power. With the madz28 tune for under 100$ 10-15hp is defintly worth it,plus u get the other options like skip shift elim, lower fan temps. Defintly worth it. And i really feel the difference with the tune, feels like its got alot more pull than it did on the top end

100$ for Madz28 tune...WORTH EVERY PENNY
Which reminds me, i gotta send Ion my computer back to program my speedo for my 4:11's im putting in, Hey its FREE! with the 2 month updates

Re: Pretty much stock tune???

Ok as for tunes on close to stock cars I have the following story:

I got my pcm from madz28 a little over a year ago. I took the car to the track with my old PCM still in the car and new pcm with me. the car had everything in my sig at the time. on consecutive passes within 1 hour eachother, one with the old pcm one with the new pcm I gained roughly 1.5 mph (a little more actually.) I spun a little more with the new PCM but still, 1.5 mph.

my idle was better, my top end was a little smoother, my speedo was fixed, my car ran cooler.

was it worth it? HELL YES!

I know who I'll be going to for a base tune for my 383

Re: Pretty much stock tune???

Isn't it great we have all these programming gurus now?!!? I love it! PCMFORLESS and MADZ28 have really turned around the LT1 performance market for these cars. That tune will be more than worth it with those mods. You can make some nice gains and the car will run much better. It's also possible to get better gas mileage as some people have shown on this website.

Re: Pretty much stock tune???

Ours are $99 w/ free shipping and $50 for updates.

My chips are a bit more expensive ($127.50) (free 1st class shipping) but its because you get your own new chip, no need to send us your old one. Reflashes are still $50.

It really depends on the car too, but like say on the 93's I've gotten up to 30 rwtq and 22rwhp on a particular stock car. Not to mention huge improvements in driveablity and taking care of minor annoyances like the car running 220 degrees, SES lights because of emmissions equipment, etc.
