pressure problems
Hello,
I am a long time tpi guy who just picked up a modified Lt1. It has P/P heads, lingenfelter cam, cold air intake, and hooker headers and Y. My question is in regards to the performance of the car.
I new as soon as I opened it up it was a dog and have since been trying to track down the culprit. My first step was to check the fuel pressure and it registerd as 50 psi with vacume, and 55 with out.
I know that this is way too high and that it should be around 35 psi with vacume but when I went to the adjustable regulator and attempted to bring the pressure down, there was no affect.
The car is a 94 and from what I have found out using the search the 94 and up's do not require any additional pressure so I was attempting to bring it down to stock psi but with no success.
On my tpi cars, the regulator uses spring pressure to regulate the braking point for the release of the fuel pressure, but on this regulator I can freely spin the adjusting screw it's full length with my fingers with out resistance.
It looks like a PITA to change the regulator so I thought I would drum up some opinions first and then attempt the solution.
Do LT-1's require the re-use of the stock regulator spring in the after market unit as the tpi units do, or are they usually complete with springs and diaphrams and such?
The car's description listed the regulator as an accel unit so any insight in to this particular regulator would be great.
Thanks a lot for any help guys,
Martin
