Preliminary dyno #'s

Not really sure what to make of this yet. I got my car dynoed on a mustang dyno, and my friend said it reads low. I don't have any other cars to compare it to on that dyno to see if anyone else gets extremely low #'s on it. Long story short, it made 267 hp max. I don't know the peak HP rpm, or even torque. I will be getting the graph tomorrow. Apparently air/fuel was good.

93 auto firehawk

Mods:

224/230 112 cam,
AS&M headers, 1.6 rockers, madz28 tune
cut-out, stock ram air setup. Also, have a 2800 stall converter, which i know can throw off the dyno.

I've heard people making 320 or so rwhp with a similar combo on a dynojet. Can a mustang dyno be that much off? I'd take it to the track, but i've been very busy. So i really dont have a baseline to work with here.

any input?

Re: Preliminary dyno #'s

the mustang dyno here seems to be about 25rwhp low.

You probally should have taken it to a dynojet dyno.

The Mustang Dyno near my house (okay its in the next small town 20 miles away) Corrects the output, I'm sure he's being extremely optimistic, but he adds 35 hp to compare with Dynojet numbers.

There really aren't any dynojets in my area(that i know of). The mustang dyno is my friend who gave me a deal..and it was more for tuning to see if its running rich.

The car seems to be running good though. Just saw alot of carbon built up on the exhaust tips and was concerned. From what i've seen by looking around...it seems these mustang dynos are off from dynojets by between 25-45 hp. So i guess that would put me in the ball park. I am going to get my chart back today..so I will have a better idea of my curve as well.

I did 330rwhp/337rwtq with 224/230, full boltons, 3400 stall, on a dynojet

Re: Preliminary dyno #'s

For comparison:

95 , M6, with shorty headers, cai, air foil, crane ignition. did on mustang dyno 276 hp and 315 torque.

I had a friend who had a trans am and dyno's on a dyno jet 299hp cant remember torque. he had ram airm and a cutout and was a 6 speed.

My car was faster and also ran a 13.05@105.8.

If that gives you any idea on the difference. I would say 35 hp is a good call on difference.

Re: Preliminary dyno #'s

Scan the car and check everything over. Not just fuel/air mix.

what did your full bolt-ons consist of? electric water pump? pulleys?, etc?

Re: Preliminary dyno #'s

Everything minus pulleys. But I also have 5 extra cubes and a bit more compression as well.

Re: Preliminary dyno #'s

More info..my friend now told me that the car seems to be running very rich on WOT(still dont know the exact #'s). the peak HP was made at 5500 rpms..and they said it started to dip around 5700 rpms. I dont think they took it higher than that. I will have the graph later after I get home from work and I'll post it for some analysis.

mine did 330rwhp 350rwtq, 224/230, pacesetter LT's, slp 2otl, ory, vig 3600 stall, 3.73's, stock mild ported heads, very base tune, with an a/f 14-1 (really lean...FPR is bad) this is on a dynojet, with the slp shorties and a 6spd it mad 320rwhp & 330 rwtq this was on a dynojet also... my compression is about 11.2-1

Re: Preliminary dyno #'s

Vin,
that cam should peak right around 5850-5900 on stock heads. So there should be some power at higher RPMs. It does sound a little low even for a Mustang dyno. I've dyno tuned a few 93 cars with that cam and it shouldn't be running rich, but drop me a line when you have the graph and I'll take a look at it for you.

I couldnt get over to the shop to get my graph. my brother and dad are going to pick it up today..and then email me it. I agree it would have probably made more power up high if they ran it that high..but ill worry about that after we can solve the rich condition. I hope theres nothing else going on also.

Ion,
Sent over my dyno info from my hotmail address.

Let me know what you think. I've never seen such a ghetto fuel chart before..and I have no idea what those numbesr are.
