Preferred Oil Filter for our LT1's
go to www.bobistheoilguy.com he has tons of info on filters, oil, etc... The K&N is a highly rated filter, but don't forget about AC Delco. They rated VERY high on his tests, and they aren't even synthetic or anything. I run them on both of my cars, and I noticed an increase in pressure on my buick when I went to Mobil 1 and used the longer AC Delco filter.
I use the oversize Super Tech ST5 which is $1.97 at Wal-Mart.
Most Delco's are now Supertech's...(read my comparo)

The problem with both the Mobil 1 and the PureONE is that in order to get the good filtration numbers they get, they sacrifice some oil flow. This isn't as much of a problem if you don't drive at full throttle too often, but when you do, these filters show a higher pressure drop.

Hey, I've been using the AC Delco PF 1218. It's longer than the PF 235 which I've had problems with. I've used the 1218 for about 3 years now with no clearance problems. AC Delco also makes the Gold PF 1218 which is more expensive, about $8 as apposed to the regular blue 1218 for about $3. My .02
I like the AC Delco's 25,but can't get them anymore except through the dealer(was paying about $2.89 each at K-mart.)Now I'm using the Wal-Mart brand, and so far ,no leaks. When I put the two side by side, they look identicle, but maybe someone should cut one in half to see if there is any difference.
Previous problem with Frams that I had is that they leak,no matter how tight I tighten them.(2)
Hope this helps. My understanding is that the engine only filters one third of the oil all the time anyway.I change mine about every 2-3 k ,or three months anyway because I like the look of clean oil.(Freaky huh).My02.

I have always used AC Delco PF 35 or when I could not find a 35, I would get the normal PF25. Recently, I switched over to the 1218 filter from AC delco but I have never had a problem with any AC delco filter (I have been using them for well over 120K miles).
Thx,
Claude
