as the topic states what are some symptoms of oil pump failure. would it cause a rough idle and random rpms. oil pressure gauge falling to almost 0 then back to 40. chattering roller rockers. i assume the motor will jsut lock up once the pump fails correct?
guys enlighten me please. i dont run into failed oil pumps every day.

This is not a problem you just want to wait until it goes out cause it will take the motor with it. I would replace the oil pressure sending unit first and then if it does the same thing ( 0 to 40 thing) then I would cease running the motor until you can change that pump.
Of course you could have some kind of debris in the oil pan that is intermittenly blocking the oil pickup but that too needs to be rectified as its starving the engine of oil.
