Power steering pump won't tighten any ideas?

Hey guys, after I pyut my motor back in my friend ended up stripping the lower bolt hole in the bracket for the pump to attach, now the other one just stripped out on me too. Is there a way of fixing this other than a helicoil or a new bracket? Either way I think its gonna be a lot of work. Some friends of mine have told me to take out the bolts and see if I can find some that are just a little bit longer to maybe catch some good threads, but that bracket is right on the block so I don't know if there are more threads even in the bracket itself. Any ideas?

I would either retap the holes or drill them out and put helicoils in them. I like to do it the right way the first time so I don't have to fix it again.

The helicoil works well - I had to do this as well.

Now that I have the engine out of the car, it's getting a new bracket.

I had to do this myself, only my PS Pump bolt holes shredded while the car was making a run on the dyno.

It's not that difficult to get the accessory bracket out. Just remove the alternator, PS Pump, Belt Tensioner, and just remove the three bolts holding the A/C Compressor to it. Then it's 4 9/16" bolts holding the accessory bracket to the block/head. Comes right out.

Do the helicoil. It works well. Very well.

Not really. I don't see why you couldn't do the helicoil with the bracket on the car.
