power loss problem.

hey guys, i posted this about a week ago, but i've got it narrowed more. i have a 1994 z28 conv m6 w/67,000. it is fine for a afew full throttle blasts, then at about 3500 it loses most of it's power, and it starts to sound really weird. then, it starts doing it throughout the powerband, missing, and still with that sound (like it gets louder, and kinda overbearing). ok, here's the weird part: after doing that for a while, the SES light comes on, and guess what? it runs great. it will run fine for a while, and the cycle repeats for pretty much as long as i drive it. i don't know much about these, but i'm going to clean the MAF later.

any ideas? i can't see it not being something sensor related.

Re: power loss problem.

well, i cleaned the MAF and unplugged the IAT, and it didn't help. when this happens at high rpms, my camaro sounds like a honda. when at low rpms, it stutters and misses. any help would be greatly appreciated.
