Okay, yes, up to debate, but what is the %loss from fwhp to rwhp for an LT1 A4 on a dyno? Mustang Dyno to be exact.

I've heard 15%, 18%, and 20%.

Will be custom dyno tuning this weekend so wondering.

 

for an A4 its usually about 18-20%, thats what I have always gone by

 

Look at my mods and my dyno numbers. That tells you right there how crappy auto's are on the dyno lol...

 

On a stock Unlocked stall...20% is about right. But ive seen people lose 40 hp on top of the just with a looser stall. Track times are where its at man...the dyon is just to tune.

 

But it is nice to be able to have an accurate idea what kind of FWHP your car is making that way whevner idiots ask you about how many horse power your car is, you dont have to explain drivetrain loss. Cause 99% of people dont grasp that concept without first telling them about it ...

 

Yeah, I agree that dyno is a tuning tool...there's other things that affect how "fast" you really are. Like Hardcore said, my main reason is to have a fwhp estimate for the "idiots". Nothing worse than explaining to people that you put down 300 rwhp, and there like "Man, that's weak, only 300 hp...my buddy's M3 is 333 hp!!"

If they only understood that Manufacturer's advertise fwhp not rwhp..they'd understand that 300 rwhp = 375 fwhp (assume 20% loss). But again if they didn't know that, then they're not into modifying their ride anyways.

Thanks for the replies...I'll probably use 18% loss to be conservative on fwhp.
