Guesses on power gain (stepping up to the cc305 from cc304)

Just like the topic says, what kind of gains should I expect. The cc304 is a decent cam but I want a little more. Is it worth the time and money? I would do the install myself, so it will just be the cost of the cam, gaskets, sealant, etc. For those not familiar with the specs of each they are:

cc304: 210 / 220, .500 / .510 114 LSA
cc305: 220 / 230, .510 / .510 114 LSA

Any guesses are appreciated and encouraged. Thanks.

my guess would be it would be more worth ur money to step up to LTs. but i've heard of a lot of people who are not happy with the cc304.

It is not that I am not happy with the cc304. It has ran a best of 13.2 @ 108.8, with many 13.2, 13.3, and usually traps 105-107. This was over a year ago (less mods than now) and was the same time it was running 8.5 @84. I am going to do an opti and was planning on change the cam while I "was down there". However I think your right my combo could benifit from LT's, it is just that I have not got a clear cut answer to which long tubes (lt1? tpi? 91? 95? etc.) for my combo. Any ways the LT's are in future plans and are a great addition to any setup. Thanks for the imput.

No one is willing to venture a guess? There is no right or wrong answers. I just wanted a ballpark idea. My guess would be 15-20 rwhp with a higher peak hp (5800 vs. 5400). Or am I overly opmistic?

Well I would venture at least 10 ponies rwhp... but my guess isn't going up much furthur than that... I just think there are better mods to be done even though the price of this one isnt bad... but my guess would be LTs for an LT1 with single cat? haven't looked too much into the bays of 3rd gens but from what i remember they've got a tad more space than the 4th gens... hmm... good question.

you will have to use 3rd gen long tubes from hooker or other brand.

Yea the car would have LT's w/ a single cat. So I guess I should just get the LT's and a tune from PCM for less (currently has stock tune)? The cam change does not seem too appealing if I am only going to gain 10rwhp, unless that is an average rwhp gain, or even just an avearage from 5400 (peak of cc304) to 5800(peak of cc305). The cam ,cc305, would help on the high end. The cc304 has tons of low end but peaks a little too rapidly for me. Thanks again for the imput.

The only thing I have heard about this is the difference b/t the lt1 exhaust ports (d-ports) vs. the ports of the third gen. (more round I believe). The third gen would have the proper bends but I am just wondering about the different exhaust ports for the different motors. It souldn't be that big of a deal should it? Thanks you for your help funina91ss.
