what type of power gains can i expect if i do the lt4 hot cam and lt4 springs? i also have 1.6 RR.
with a good port and polish job and a 3 angle valve job what type of power gains can be expected there?

How do we know what your gonna gain if we don't know what your puting out now?? Need hp/tq #'s to know how good your heads are and then your increase could be better. I've seen 368RWHP 358RWTQ with LT4 conversion so I'd guess you'd be around there with ported LT1 castings. He was also running shorty headers.
Re: power gains form LT4 hot cam?
i dont know what my numbers would be, every thing i have is in my sig. i was just tring to get a guess from possibly someone that has done it or knows. can find and site that gives a number on it. also just tring to get a ball park on the port and polish. I am sure someone knows on here.
Re: power gains form LT4 hot cam?
I have seen everywhere from 290 with the cam (bad motor) to 415+ with everything being PERFECT.
Go dyno now, mine was week starting. I only made 270 with longtubes and cold air and other minor stuff. I know people making that stock. With a cc306 and better exhaust I made 335/350. Have some tuning issues and hoping for 350 out of this. Iron heads with a decent port job are coming and I am hoping for 380+.
I am just trying to say be aware that #s will vary big time across the board.

if you already have 1.6rr's then i really dont see why you would want to put that small of a cam in...? Also if you have 1.6's now, than you should have different springs already, if you do then what are they?
there are a bunch of options cam/spring wise, i reccommend getting some good springs and a good off the shelf or custom cam... stay away from the hot cam kit if you want GOOD gains...

What are you aiming for in terms of hp and track times. You need to know what your goals are with your car before just throwing parts at and trying to make it faster. Then talk to a cam manufacturer and see what they recommend.

MY 1997 Z28 ran 13.35s with basically a Hypertech tune, headers, 3.73 gears and 2600 stall. I installed the LT4 Hot cam, springs, 1.6 RRs and a PCMforLess tune, now I'm running consistant 12.60s @ 108.3! I think the Hot cam is an excellent cam for an LT1 with both street/strip performance goals. If you install a really big cam, but don't have all the matching components, it isn't going to perform that well. Sometimes smaller is better, and GM did a very good job with their matching LT4 performance components. I'll probably add the LT4 heads and intake next year and have the complete LT4 package. I also installed the GM high performance (HD) roller timing chain and gear set with the cam, which is another great GM part for the LT1.

See sig... LT1 heads ported out to the max with 2.02intake and 1.57exhaust ferrea valves. LT4 hotcam kit, dynotuned to perfection by ccstuning. I put down 396 on a dynojet, considerably less on the mustang dyno but i think the guy was entering in the stock weight for my car... and my car is not any where near stock weight... But anyways, that gives you an idea of where you could be... From the best of my knowledge my car is just about as quick as you can get an LT4 hotcammed car... But i guess my increased compression and new engine probably help too... Oh and I also went ahead and bought the LT4 ED timing chain when i did my hotcam, for piece of mind
