Post Hooker LT install question
Post Hooker LT install question
I installed the Hooker LT's on my 97 Camaro Z28 and since then my check engine light has been on. I checked the codes and I'm getting TP sensor intermittent high voltage and Misfire Detected trouble codes. I installed the throttle body and the Hypertech about a week or so before installing the headers and it ran fine until I installed the headers. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, I checked it when I got home last night and found the #5 wire sitting right on the header melting away. Did you run the wires over the valve covers, mine weren't. I'm going to do that tomorrow and I'll let you know how it makes out. Thanks again.
I ran the wires over the valves and it's running great now except, I am getting a P0400 EGR code. I have the egr tube clamped off but still have the EGR valve on the car. Should I get a blockoff plate and remove the EGR valve? Will the car run properly with no EGR and the blockoff installed and not blow a code?
Thanks
Thanks
Check to see if the TPS voltage code is still there. If so, how did you adjust the idle speed after the TB install? Did you back the throttle stop screw out until you had the right idle rpm and the right IAC counts (20-40). Then did you check the TPS voltage to make sure it was between 0.20-0.90V (0.50-0.67 seems to be preferred)? If the TPS voltake appears OK, and the code is intermittent, are you sure the TPS is screwed on tight?

With an OBD-II setupp like yours, removing the function of the EGR system sets the code. You need to have the function programmed out of the PCM to get rid of the code/SES.

I didn't set the idle when I put it on, the idle was fine the way it was. The problem was occuring when I went full throttle, it went over the 4.8v maximum and set the code. What I ended up doing was taking off the TPS and slotting the holes because the idle voltage was too high @ .7v and adjusted it down to .5v and WOT is fine.
The only problem I have now as I said was that the P0400 EGR code I'm getting, usually when I'm cruising at about 75-80mph in 6th gear and the EGR tries to run and there is no heated air going through the intake. What do I need to have programmed out? I heard of someone setting the test to like 7000 RPM or something like that which the car will never reach.

I have the same question regarding the EGR......mine too only comes on when I'm at freeway speeds. Around town, it's fine.
Is this a problem that needs to be programmed out, or what else can be done?
Thanks!
Jeff

Injuneer - Is there any other way than to have your computer reprogrammed?
