Possibly a stupid question....

I am trying to determine how two spark plugs had oil on the threads after removal. Does oil evaporate or burn? Obviously right? I did reseal my intake due to a leak, I also did see on the intake that there was oil in the chambers. I figured that possibley the intake was leaking and also oil was getting into the combustion chambers. It's strange becaused only two cylinders had this, not much but enough for me to notice. My car has 27k on the odometer so there is no way that it is the rings.

Re: Possibly a stupid question....

You said "on the threads." You didn't mention if it was on the electrode. If it is on the threads but there is no evidence it was burning at the electrode. (lack of presence of crusty carbon build up) then more than likely its dripping down from the valve covers.

Since your car is a 1994 and only has 27K miles, it sits not being used for long periods of time and many seals and gaskets can and will dry out.

Try either using high milage oil like Valvoline or add Lucas oil treatment to your regular oil the next time you change the oil. See if you then notice less oil. The 2 items mentioned above have a little more "swelling" agents then conventional oil to help seal the rubber products on the engine.

My 5.0 used to have oil on all its plugs threads. But no sign of oil on the electrodes and the valve covers weren't leaking. I still don't know why. Maybe you are getting enough oil in the combustion to seep out but not enough to leave residue on the electrodes.
