POssibly buying used borla opinions on sound volume??

I am thinking of putting buddies used borla on my 96 vert. Its actually my wifes car but I drive it to..only fair since i paid for it and service it..

Now the stock z28 exhaust sounds pitiful..so can put a borla on there but wondering with the quietest plate and running stock cats and stock exhaust manifolds will it be pretty tame.I don't want it to get annoying on trips as realize it might be louder of course with top down than on a t top or hartop car.

I have always loved the sound of borlas on lt1s and was looking forward to putting on on this car.But man those things are pricey new.!!

Other options would be putting my stock 99 taws6 exhaust on the vert or moving my b and b ehaust on my 99 over to the vert and then maybe getting a borla on the ls1.

I think you'll like the borla. with stock cat and manifolds it will be pretty tame even with the open plate. my brother has an 02 camaro with the same exhaust as what you are thinking about. I realize that they are two different engines but he runs the open plate and i have a 95 with headers and a highflow cat. i run a custom plate with a one inch hole which is smaller then the smallest plate included with the borla and mine is way louder then his.

hope this helps

I have borla on my car and i also have headers and a off road y pipe and with the closed plate in it is really quite but has a good tone when i get on it so it should sound great for what you are looking for to get with stock manifoilds and all that stuff.

JUST SAY NO TO BORLA! GET A HOOKER!

J/k on stock manifolds the Borla sounds pretty good with whichever plate is in it. Too quiet for my tastes with the smallest plate in

A guy in my town has a 95 Z28 with SLP headers no cat and borla with no plate and its the loudest street car I have ever heard. There is an oil change place about 100 feet from the highway and he used to rip by at around 120mph and it would rattle the windows in the building like mad!
