possible to recharge ac myself or not??
Maybe the CORRECT way is to E-vac the system but I have recharged many cars without doing so and never had any problems. My Cavalier has a small leak, I recharge it every spring but it lasts all season. No problems and cools extremly well.

I'm in the commercial HVAC/Refrig. business and if you have 100% lost the refrigerant charge you really should evacuate the systems and change out the drier. If it is just low and not cooling as well as it used to (some gas is still in the system) you are OK with a top off charge. If it is completely empty, air and moisture has probably gotten into the system and it won't get as cool as it should due to mixed gases and the discharge pressures can be too high (non-condensables) and greatly shorten the life of your compressor.
sorry i didnt check this post till now
thank you very much guys
i know where it leaked from, cause i broke the hose
i dont really care, cause i use my ac maybe once a year at most, but i wanna fix it anyway. im gonna replace the tube i broke, vaccuum, then refill like you guys said. i wont bother replacing the drier or whatever yet, no point really. thanks again, ciao.
