Is it possible for a rear main seal to leak on a fresh motor?

what kind of seal did you use? when i did my 383 i used a fel-pro rear main seal and about 300 miles on the engine it was leaking. i put a new GM seal in and i have not seen a drop yet.

The pics of the bellhousing mean nothing. Have you not taken the dust cover off the bellhousing yet? Other than taking pics, have you felt around behind the intake?

I took these pics before I made this thread, the car is still at the exhaust shop so no, I haven't had a chance to pull off the cover.

I have felt behind the intake, it's dry, or at least I'm 99.9% sure it is.

One thing on the Fel Pro one piece oil pan gasket is you do need to put RTV in the four corners of the gasket, above and below. Basically where your main caps meet the block, put rtv on, then install the gasket then put more on those spots on the gasket side meeting the pan.
It may not be what Fel Pro says, but mine never leaked after I did this in car when it did leak because I didnt put RTV (right stuff) in the corners.
The one piece seal can leak if damaged during install.
