A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
What’s up guys? My name is Alex the new guy over at Quick Time Performance.
While cleaning up inventory in the shop I stumbled across a prototype set of 93-97 LT1 Race Style Long Tube Headers. I personally own a 1995 LT1 Z28, and they immediately sparked my own interest. I spoke with my boss about possible production, but I first need to gather if their would be any serious interest in them incase we actually went ahead with production?
The headers would be high velocity style stainless steel 1 3/4"x 3" with a polished finish and 02‘ fittings. The price for the race style would approximately be running $725.00. After looking at the prototype I can assure that the finished product will definitely be top notch like our very popular high velocity LS1 headers.
If anyone has any questions or comments feel free to respond via posting, PM or Email. I will try and be as prompt as possible! Also if anyone is curious to see any pictures just let me know I will get some up as soon as possible!
Thanks!

Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
1-7/8 that fit the 93-97 without modifications ceramic yes stainless no do it for $500-550 a set thats where the market is going there alreadt 1-3/4 stainless headers and nobody is buying them
Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
I agree...make a stepped header. Kooks has that market cornered, but it would be easy to break into. There are tons of 1&3/4 headers...but only one stepped header option. I'd seriously look at buying a stepped header as I'd like to pick up a set of kooks eventually.
Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
I agree with the above comments. With more H/C packages out there giving LT1s some real potential, guys are looking more towards stepped headers. Guys are still buying 1 3/4" headers, but you are well over the price point for a 1 3/4" header. Give us a stepped header for $650 and you'd have something.
Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
I was looking to buy SS 1 3/4 headers in the next couple months but if you guys have the same thing as kooks but polished and cheaper then i would defidently buy a set.
Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
I don't think there is room for two high priced stainless 1-3/4" headers in the LTx market. If you had a solid feature over the Kooks to differentiate your header it would be a better option. A few suggestions that have been made shouldn't be taken lightly. Many of the LTx setups are now pushing further than they ever have before. Seeing a 475 flyhp motor is relatively common on just heads/cam cars and the more built motors are easily at 530+. I think something more along the lines of a 1-7/8" header would be more marketable because so many of the internet guru's would see the bigger number and automatically think their bolt on motor needed it.
I guess the main void in the LTx market from my point of view is the bigger headers. The kook's 1-3/4 stepped to 1-7/8 available with the 3 or 3.5" collector is already a great header, and if you want to charge a similar price you also need to find your niche.

Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
I've only seen Street & Performance do this on the headers they offer, so it might be a good selling point: offer them with the outside of the header polished and the inside ceramic coated. Best of both worlds.
There are people out there who have engines that aren't even remotely in the ballpark of needing a stepped 1 7/8" header who would buy that just for the "bling" factor.

Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
What us LT1 guys need is an 1 7/8 header. Kooks went in the right direction with the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 step, but a lot of us stroker and blower guys can really use an 1 7/8 header. With it being more and more common, and easy, to build a 500+ HP motor, we can really use (need) a header like that. I would offer them in stainless, with an option for having them coated. Also, offer them with or without emissions fittings, just in case some of us want to keep things visually pleasing to the smog patrol. 3.5 inch collectors should be used, and offering a matching y-pipe that will work with the headers. Having the flanges with a standard and Stahl bolt pattern would be great, or really should be a standard feature with tubes this big. I think if you build anything else, you wont be bringing anything new to the market, and you will just be entering a market where there are products already out and commonplace.

Re: A Possible Quick Time Performance LT1 Header?
I dont think the price is high at all for this type of header. For an 1 7/8 header with 3.5 inch collectors, and constructed in stainless, it would be a fair price. But if your going to build something like an 1 3/4 or 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 step like Kooks, then your price has to be close to what the competitors charge, probably less if you want to move in on their market. Im hopin you can build what I described earlier in this post, you would have the high end header market for LT's hand down.
