popping at high rpms

Question popping at high rpms

I have a 95 z28 and i noticed saturday night when i was racing a mustang it came off the line ok and when i started to reach around 4500 rpms it started popping backed off and it was fine . I almost lost but didnt , checked my plugs and wires they look fine and checked fuel pressure it is good also any ideas ??

It could be the opti. I know thats how mine was until after i replaced it.

my opti is new just replaced it about a month ago cause the original one crapped out on me .when it went it was backfiring really bad . the motor has about 5,000 miles on it . thank you for any ideas

my opti is new just replaced it about a month ago cause mine went out it was backfiring really bad. thank you for any input

Mine was a bad coil wire. Might want to check the coil too.

Yes, check coil wire. I had your exact same problem. I went to change the optispark and notice that the coil wire was destroyed and all rusted inside the boot. Changed Opti and coil wire and problem went away. I can almost bet my old opti was fine and it was just that stupid wire
