Poll. What is your oil pressure?
Poll. What is your oil pressure?
What is your oil pressure at idle and cruise when engine is at normal operating temp? No need to nit pick the psi numbers or mileage I am just trying to get a general idea of what might be normal for these engines.
Re: Poll. What is your oil pressure?
Hot idle in tracffic is between 15 and 20. At cruise speeds samewhwere around 30psi and high rpm is 45psi or so. I do have high mileage and I'm not sure this is normal. It seems a little low to me.

Idle: 20
Cruise: 40
WOT: 60
Anything below 15-20 is considered unusual, even though the specs say it can be as low as 6 psi at idle...
If you've got a high mileage engine with worn bearings that is still in pretty good condition, running a slightly thicker oil isn't a bad idea. Something like 10W-40 would probably be good.

Re: Poll. What is your oil pressure?
cold start up according to the guage (who knows how accurate it is) it sits at about ~45psi
warm/hot idle and cruise its just under 20psi
WOT it jumps up too about 50psi
thats all how the car is now
when it was stock, cold was about 60psi, warm/hot was about 40psi all the time WOT was 60+

Re: Poll. What is your oil pressure?
How many miles now?
I'm up to 148,000 on the clock. I'm the 3rd owner and it has all ways been at these pressure levels. I think when I install my hotcam, Igoing to pull the pan. Check the bearings and replace the oil pump with a white spring. If the bearings or in poor shape, then they will need replacing as well, I guess.

Re: Poll. What is your oil pressure?
Can't be answered as the question is posed. Idle and cruise are completely different rpm. What are you asking for? How about two questions: pressure at idle (with idle speed stated) and pressure at a specificed cruise rpm?
