the earlier lt1 WERE equiped with the hardened pushrods... i cant remember if it was just the 93-94 fbodies or if it was 93-95.. either way you should have them, and as for the vettes i have no idea...

I'd be very surprised if the 93s used a different material in their connecting rods.

i think the earlier years had pink rods and then they phased them out with the "pm" rods.

i was always under the impression that the pink rods were stronger. oh well!

I have both a 93 and a 97 set of LT1 rods setting in a box and they are far from the same, the 97s are the PMs wereas the 93 are some skinny shanked somethings or the others, have no idea what the 94 got, but I beleive Lingenfelter says that 94 was the first year for the powdered metal forgings. He also says to stay away from the 93s types like the plague.

From the often-quoted article on "Rebuilding the LT1":

RODS

The original LT1 came with regular forged 350 rods, that were shot peened for localized hardness under the head of the bolt and nut. Powdered metal rods were phased in for the Corvette around 1994 and used in all of the LT1 engines by 1995. GM made the change because the powdered metal rods were cheaper to make and were much stronger than the GM high performance "pink" rods. In fact, they are supposed to be good for up to 450 hp. They are machined at the parting line so they can be reconditioned.

so it looks like my rods aren't pm's. i am building a mild 355 with a hot cam, 1.6 rr's, slight head porting with bigger valves (2.00/1.56). i might hit it with a 125 shot at some point. would it be worth it for me to get a set of forged rods or use the stock ones with some arp hardware?

thanks for the help
