Plugged waterpump weep hole

Doing my cam swap and just thought I would share some pics of how I plugged the weep hole in the wp housing. I tapped it with a 1/4" x 20 tap and used some thread sealant on the allen head bolt. Hope this gives y'all some ideas beyond welding. More pics on the swap soon!

If it is not an electric pump, I would think it better to put a little hose on it to direct any drips away from the opti. You really need it open, because it is an indicator when the pump is wearing out.

I'm installing an electric pump. I agree that this is the only reason you should plug this hole. Thanks for your observation shoebox.

Re: Plugged waterpump weep hole

if you are installing an electric pump, and you install the freeze plug from the front, then that hole will never contact water. Unless the freeze plug gives out, in which you would then have bigger problems than that tiny hole.

Re: Plugged waterpump weep hole

As previously mentioned... freeze plug covers that area and the weep hole is no longer an issue. So.. ya did it for nothing, but neat idea if there was a point
