Plug and wires questions
Plug and wires questions
What plugs are you guys using and what determines the correct gap on the plug......also shop that had my car went through mSD said they were too thick and burning on the headers- then Taylor wires- also said they were not a good fit thats why i'm burning them up- now i have stock length 7mm accel wires- they look like little shoe strings down there......will they work or are they too small..........always thought thicker was better- BTW- all throughout the wire issue i always saw a glow and a one time a damn light show....now i still see small dim glow at at least two of the boots- any glow is bad right?
Re: Plug and wires questions
I have had great luck with the OVC kit with Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm wires. You will not burn a wire on a header again. They are a little pain to install, but they work great for me. I use NGK TR55s gapped at .035" My compression ratio is 11.2:1 and I was told that .035 is good for my application because high compression can blow out the spark if the gap is too big. So far so good.
If you are having problems with burning wires on header you really need to do the over the valve cover (OVC) set up....You can actually use any 8mm wire as long as you get the Taylor opti ends which you will crimp on when you custom cut your wires for the OVC set up. Also there is a new web site called www.elitesparkplugs.com that sells the wires already custom made for the OVC set up...I'm just not sure what brand of wire they use.
