Just looked at the Isky springs. Looks like they are good to .550. Unless I got my math wrong, the 227 with 1.6rr will have .552 lift on the exhaust side. Might be a little iffy.

Re: Please recomend some valve springs

Just an FYI on the 987 springs I was planning to use. I'm told by comp cams the inner spring will wear against the valve seal, so the valve guides would need machining to make them work. Some on this board report they fit fine, and others have had problems. This makes me think it depends on the factory machine work tolerances?? Not too sure, but I decided to send them back and get the 26918 Beehives instead.

From the Comp Cams Spring Chart

The 918s coil bind at 1.085, although they don't report numbers past 1.15. With an install height of 1.75 (seat pressure = 146lbs/in), and .555 lift, that puts you at 1.195 (open pressure ~318lbs/in)

I'm keeping it. I'm one of those baby cam lovers.

I called Isky back when the same thought went through my mind. They said
no problem. If you notice, coil bind on the 235s is at 1.15", which leaves
about .077" on the table if the springs are installed at 1.78". The number I
have been quoted over the years as the minimum safety margin to coil bind
is .050". Thunder Racing also has many customers with the 227, 1.6s,
and Isky 235s with no problems.

I have not yet dug into the spare parts in the garage. I'll send a PM or an
email with the details. Here is my old post from the for sale board:
