with 3:73's...... i would say 2800-3400 not lower, not much higher (possibly 3600, if your hardcore) i would go with 3000 or 3200 if i were you.

well if you drag or not, is almost irrelevent, your looking for performance, even if you don't actually GO to the track... your looking for speed results, im telling you the best way to do it... to make much of a difference WITH gears, you need a fairly high stall... cause the 3:73's will keep rpms at cruising speeds fairly high anyways...
okay, I think I get it. So w/ the stall do I need to do anything more than buy a better cooler? I don't wanna go high $$ lol. And I hadn't thought about the cruising speed.
when I picked out my cam (crane) it was down to a 260H or 266H the 260 only has brute low end torque no mid. My cam has strong low and mid torque. Think I made a good choice? I thought all low would ruin my highway driving.
and im wondering w/ or w/out a stall and my set-up w/ 3.73's what my "At a Redlight" take off will be. I dont want to bog like the "emissions cars" do off idle because my power band starts at 1,200.

lol no...
if you had a purely stock car, 3:73's and a stall.... and you used the stall to its full potential... you would need DR's to go anywhere
have fun!
although with a stall you do feel like you have to give it more gas up hills and at startup.... i forget why.... but its nothing important... if you want a GOOD launch... just make sure you got plenty of rubber rest the rpms at 2900 and wait for green

Thanks formula, lol.
I think I'll save the "good" launches for the rice boys around here. (there be plenty
)
So 3,000-3,200 stall w/ 3.73's
one last question, (since only one pro is chiming in) w/ my 18"rs and street tires, how much should I worry about traction under normal conditions? (daily Driving, cruising)
Will I eat my new tires just trieng to got to the store? lmao!

ahhh... i warn you about calling me a "pro"
you should see how stupid i can be, when it comes to installing, oh i dunno, a tranny cooler...
(see my thread today
)
as long as you don't powerbrake your stall at every light... your tires should do fine...
its still gonna be easy not to break traction (unless you want to)
i warn you too... 3:73's and a high stall.... (which 3000 + is, high)
you can kiss your gas milage goodbye...
couple that with a cam... (that i think you said you had) and a not-so-good tune...
and you can start calling it gas FOOTage...
good luck!
