Please help me with installing the MSD-6AL

Does anyone have one of these? I need some help on where to put the thing at. There is no room at all in the engine bay, i was just curious to see where you guys put em. It is a msd-6al with a 6k rev limiter, i got it for $80 still in the box with instructions. I think i can wire it up, but i really want the wiring harness needed instead of having to splice the wires and risk messing everything up. I think the wiring harness is PN8877 so i have to order one. Isn't the coil on the drivers side head? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Coil is on a bracket. Driver's side, look between the head and the block. Right around there.

I've seen several people mount their MSD box around where the stock fuse box is underhood.

I thought about mounting it there also, but it looks like i would have to relocated the fuse box which i don't really wanna have to do. Any thoughts on the wiring harness?

Do you still have the stock air box?? If not you can mount it right below the fuse bose...Thats where I have mine...but I have the SLP CIA, so I actually have the room for it....use velcro too....better than screws and glue...

Also...the make special GM connectors for the Ignition Coil...other than that all you need is the power and ground (if you get the GM harnesses)

OK, the may be a stupid newbie question, but on my stock coil, the plugin only has 2 wires going to it. A pink wire and a green wire. In the instructions, the picture shows 3 wires that go into the plugin of the coil. I looked at the pic of the wiring harness 8877 for 96 and up and it also has 3 wires going into the plugin. Do you understand what im trying to say? How are my two wires going to work when the pic shows three plugged into the stock plugin on the coil? The new harness does plugin to the coil and the stock plugin right? I was going to try to wire it up today without the harness but since the plugin only has 3 wires which are supposed to be a-b-c, a being the pink, and the other two b and c being different colors. Since mine only has 2 wires this is not possible and I don't see how it could be used with the harness either since one of the wires will be left without a partner. Can anyone explain this to me, did you guys stock harness have 2 or 3 wires in it? My car is a 97 with the stock ignition as far as i know. Please help!

The STOCK plugin that goes into the stock coil only has 2 wires preceeding in the plugin but the msd harness for 96 up cars has 3 wires going to it. I don't see how this could work unless the plugin somehow splices the 3 wires into 2, i guess i could buy the harness and plug it in and see if it worked. Im just looking at the picture of it at summitracing. BTW, if anyone with a 96 and up car has an msd 6 series installed, did your coil plugin have 2 or 3 wires going into it. Thanks for the help.

It will work fine, 2 of the wires are connected together internal to the coil, so only two are really used

As long as you have the 8877 harness, it is plug and play.
