Please Help...Ls1 vs Lt1
I know it would be dumb to buy a car just for exhaust bbut just threw it out there. KEEP THE OPINIONS AND FACTS COMING... by the by i personally like the LS1 look better much more aggresive, exspecially with ram air. dont get me wrong the LT1 does look good at one point i liked them better but.... ITS IN THE AIR RIGHT NOW
of others, because opinions are just that - a personal preference. My opinion
doesn't count, but I prefer the LT1 look over the LSx (actually, I wish I still
had my '69 Z) ... sorry, but the front end of an LSx looks like a bug. I do
*not* like that headlight assembly. And I don't like the red/amber/white
rear light kit - looks like a ricer.
But see, xx number of people will disagree with me, but it's Okay, because
I had a choice in car(s) and chose appropriately. Your best bet is to choose
what it is *you* want.
I dd'ed the heck out of my Z with a Meizere EWP-only probably I had was a crappy relay that powered it burned up, caught in time when temp went to 210 and shut it down. Since then I used two relays to power up the Pump and it has worked flawlessly for 4 straight years
See, this is what I said in a previous post - don't worry about the opinions
of others, because opinions are just that - a personal preference. My opinion

Although I am completely dedicated to my LT1, if I had to do it over again, I would go LS1. There is just so much more to start with.
I will give you an example: When I bought my 94 Camaro M6, I got it to the full bolt-on mode (1.6 rr's, headers, exhaust, 4.10's spec clutch, etc). At the time, my buddy bought a (new at the time) 2000 WS6 A4. I routinely spanked him up one side and down the other. He ran a 13.8 bone stock, I was running 13.1's to 13.3's @ 105 with a 1.8 60ft (M6 thats not bad). Then he put some bolt-ons to his. He did the following: Lid, TB bypass, 160 thermo, free ram-air mod, 3.73's, cat back, and a 3800 yank converter. The result: 12.4's @ 109 CONSISTANTLY with a 1.6 60fts. This was 8 years ago. That made me a believer in the LS1.
I agree with the statements that there is now a tremendous amount of aftermarket support for the LS1. Much more so than the LT1. Once you start down the path of breaking into the motor, the playing field evens up some. But you will still have superior head options with the LS1 over the LT1. It is just a better design. Thats not to say you can't kick *** with an LT1, but IMHO, the LSx is just a better platform.
With all that said, I am dedicated to the LT1. You will have to pry mine from my dead cold hands! But If I were you, I would go LS1.
Let the hate posts begin!!

Dont be so insensitive about the LS1 appearance.

I am trying to think what it really looks like, but I cant quite put my finger on it.

Yeah you're right. but my only chance of getting a 2010 anytime soon is if i hit the powerball. I already have 3 of the first 4 generations right now though
LOL wow that's just great. i needed a good laugh to wake up to lol.

I would say go ls1 if you can afford it, if you can't make up your mind just buy an lt1 for about 3K and use the rest for mods. Or you can go test driving the cars, I'm sure some dealerships still have LT1 cars around.
WRD that was funny ahahahh never saw that before ha. Well im not gonna lie the lt1 does looks better for the trans am only( i do not like the look of lt1 camaros headlight they are plain but i know they 13 + years old. but i would prolly take one) so the BIG QUESTION IS.... what kinda of mods can i buy with about 3k( all new stuff nothing used) and what kinda of hp would i be makin after these mods in trans am and z28?????????????
I don't think TN does Megamillions. they do powerball though. and I've made my investment for that. drawing isn't till tomorrow. Who knows, maybe i'll get lucky and get a bday present a day late
that'd be the day. lol i'd just about crap myself.

I love my LT1 so far. Bought it in horrible condition, got bearings replaced inside motor because of spun rod bearing. After that thing runs like a monster. Down here in South Houston it's all about the trucks, all dropped and loud. I'm a guy that likes cars for speed, and trucks for what they are meant to do. So a 5.3L Silverado, dropped maybe 3 inches starts messing with me, he takes off, I take off maybe a second later and before I even get through 1st gear he's a car length behind, then you know, dusted. If I can do that to a truck around here, I'm happy.
Now I'm cammed, so yea, loving it. But I think I would've gotten a LS1 if I had the money then. But now, they are the underdog like we were, so doesn't make a real difference who you go with. Soon the LS3 peeps will start ******* on them with their better ports and bigger bore and crap like that. If you got the money LT1=LS1.
I do love how LS1's sound, but I doubt it can sound as good as a dumped dual piped LT1.

I bet the stalled auto vs. 6 speed had more to do with the difference in times than the engines.
