Please help!!! I am installing dynaspark with cloyes double roller
Please help!!! I am installing dynaspark with cloyes double roller
I think the cloyes cam gear is thicker than oem gear.
according to DTE the fitment specs of the cam gear thickness should be no more than .235'' max. Mine is .250'' ("I think", its hard to get a good measurement through the timing cover)
My question is would it be possible to shim the opti .015'' and it be alright?
I would have to add .015'' to the dowel length to make up for the shim.
Does this sound OK or am I not thinking straight?
The only problem I could see happening is the seal may leak. I just hope somebody else has encountered this and has a quick fix. Thanks

Shoebox I can't tell if it is contacting or not. I was gonna use some putty to find out but I'm kind of scared I'll drop it in the motor
The dynaspark is .020 away from the timing cover. I know the O-ring on the back will hold it out some but it just looks odd. My old opti slides right in and fits flush. I looked for rub marks where the opti drive may have come in contact with the timing gear but it was fine.
According to the directions I have my cam gear and my cam bolts are out of spec.
The thickness of my cam bolt heads are.210 when they are supposed to be .200 max. but there is plenty of clearance for them so I don't understand where DTE comes up with their specs.
On a side note: I have 3 LT1's in my garage and all the cam bolts are .210
I think I'll just finish installing it and see what happens. I just don't want to screw up a 600 dollar part
