cam?
Whats affordable to you? The lt4 hot cam kit is hard to beat for the price. It works very well. I have it in one of my cars and I like it a lot, (good power and sound). Are there other choices out there that make more power, yes there is, but it will be more money with the supporting springs and other stuff that comes with the hotcam kit. But for stock heads the hotcam is a proven cam. If you want something that will give you a little more power the cc503, crane 227, and lingenfelter 211/219 are very popular with unported heads. search the forums this topic has been discussed many times.
RamAir95TA give good advice with http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt...ion-guide.html check it out and do some reading, and hopefully you can decide on what you want and how much $$$$ you want to spend. You can spend a lot real fast. Good luck with your decision.
ps There will be be folks giving all kinds of advice with your money not in mind.

You are going to have to pony up some more cash for it to be done right. The cam is only 20% of the cost. You also have to factor in things like a timing set, rockers, springs, hardware, lifters (if yours have high mileage), gaskets and misc., and most importantly a PCM tune. A typical cam swap using quality, new parts will run you around $1000+.
