Pleae help. No spark.

I just installed a new opti-spark 3 days ago. It was running fine until now. It cranks but doesn't start or misfire at all. I just checked for spark and there is no spark coming from the coil. Is it possible something got messed up when I installed the opti? Any ideas what could be causing this?

Re: Pleae help. No spark.

It's possible. It had 140,000 miles on it so it was bound to go soon anyway. Plus I don't feel like ripping everything apart again. I'm just hoping I didn't screw something up when I put the opti in. It just seems fishy that it would suddenly crap out almost right after I put the new opti in. Is there a way to test the coil and icm? I'm starting to wonder if this thing will ever run right again. Or for at least a month without anymore problems. Just seems to be one thing after another and it all happens within days of each other.

um...do a search on it or check www.shbox.com but you should be able to pull the coil wire off...crank it and ground the wire and if it dont spark then it dont work...there is more theory to that, but check that site before you do anything...

Re: Pleae help. No spark.

Thanks for the info. That site is great. I did the first test it said to do and the voltage was ok so this may rule out the coil. I can't do the second test yet cause I have no one to crank the engine so according to that site, it could either be something with the pcm, wiring to the pcm from the opti, or the opti itself. Hopefully it tests good and it's just something stupid like a coil wire but I doubt it especially with my luck.

Found the problem. I think someone screwed with the opti before cause I remembered the locking tab on the harness for the opti was broken off. The harness came loose and popped out slightly. I plugged it back in and now its running great.
