Pistons...

Ordering parts for my LT1 build up. For starters I'm running the LT4 Hot Cam Kit, the motor is eventually going to get sprayed so I wanna go forged aluminum. My question is for the people who have built motors and have swapped over to forged what kind of pistons are you running? I really don't know the diffrence between flat top, domed or dished pistons so I wanted to get some opinions on what would be the right set to get for my application, thanks in advance. BTW any part numbers too would help if anyone has got any.

Re: Pistons...

Get the Speed Pro package offered by Summit. Pistons, gaskets, bearings, oil pump, ect... You can get the forged or Hyperpathetic package (forged is around $530) The pistons are a forged version of stock pistons, with the same cc valve reliefs. I'm also running eagle I beam rods with the stock crank.

A good all around piston is the FederalMogul L2490F piston. Its a forged 2 valve relief flat top with 1/16 1/16 3/16 rings. It weighs roughly 500 grams and has a deck that is thick enough for some serious nitrous use.
