few questions on build up

im building up my engine with home ported heads, cc230/236 1.6rr, new bearings and rings. the cylinder bores look good and dont need bored. I will be putting in new rod bolts for certain, but i would like to know if i should go with new pistons... i dont know if this would be a good idea on the stock bores but i kinda want to run a 75 or 100 shot of nitrous just for fun and im pretty sure the stock pistons would not hold up. Also what kind of pistons... im on a budget but im may save up for some forged. I just want some more opinions.

thanks
james

ps check out how my intake ports look at www.cardomain.com/id/jameslt1ta, i ported them myself.

IMO, if you are going to get new pistons, you might as well go with a slight overbore. Then the cylinders will be fresh, square and ready for that abuse.

Re: few questions on build up

my friend...

i have learned 1 thing, the word budget and building/rebuilding a motor is an oxymoron...

you can get some wisecos with rings for bout 400 bux... i would highly reccomend boring/honing... how many miles ya got? alot of ppl say bs to me, but with cars that got some miles on'em from constant use, the top of the cylinder wall expands a bit from alll the explosions, so a bore wouldnt be a bad idea

Re: few questions on build up

thanks guys ... if i can get my pickup sold ill probably bore the block. lol i know what you mean about budget engine buildup... was just a cam swap, then figured i should port the heads while the cam bearing were getting put in...and then, and then, and then... hopfully it will be running soon. i miss my car, been riding with my girlfriend in her neon...painfully slow.
btw how does my porting look?
