Piston Oil Rings, low tension vs std varies amongst manfactures?
I currently have low tension JE piston rings, JE10008 rings. They have no rating as far as #'s. But there standard rings are 11-12#, which seems kinda low, as some manufacturers rate there standards as 15-20#.
I plan on replacing my low tension rings with JE's, but based on there low number, would it be okay to get some other manufacturer that has a little higher rating.
I am looking at fixing the oil consumption problem with these rings.
I have less than 5000 miles, leak down test it great, no oil on start up, just blow by due to low tension rings.
Ring recommendation? I have a 4.030 bored LT1. I wont replace the other rings, just oil.
