Is this a pink or powdered metal rod?
Is this a pink or powdered metal rod?
I've searched through dozens and dozens of threads trying to find the answer. I'm trying to decide if I want to get a Scat 4340 I-beam or use these rods with ARP bolts?

It's not a good quality pic, but it has the balance pad on the bottom of the cap. Are these the pink or PM rods?

Re: Is this a pink or powdered metal rod?
Any input on whether or not I should use these stock rods with ARP bolts or should I fork out the extra hundred for the Scat's? The car will have a cam for sure(undecided which) and 125+ shot of teh funnay ju!c3...
Right now it's making 442rwhp/500rwtq on bottle with the LT4 cam and bolt-ons. I think the stock rods are somewhere around there limit.

If the sides of the rod have a fairly wide "parting line" its a standard forged rod and just fine for what you're planning assuming they're resized and have new performance bolts. If the lines on the sides are thin then its a later cast rod and should be discounted for serious performance use. As the previous poster said the PM rods have no balance pads as they're much more precise. The PM rods are inexpensive new from GM and ARP has bolts for those, but you will have to resize them if you have new bolts installed.
