Pinging - stumble on part acceleration and idle.

I've cleaned out the IAC, swapped my opti still the above problems.
I just did some work with cam/header/head work and after everything was back together the above problems started.

What can caused pinging? (timing and ignition)

What would cause the idle stumble? (IAC, TPS)

If you have any ideas beside what I posted let me know.

did the problem start after the opti install or before? possibly an lt4 knock module may help. i noticed you did header work. make sure all plugs and wires are in good shape and make sure the plugs are all in tight. not sure what else to think

Problem was before the opti swap.
I have a 93 so the knock module doesn't swap out like the 94s and up.
I did find a coupld of problem with it plugged up on GM OBD1 diagnostic. It takes a while for it to go into closed loop, the IAT is showing -40 degrees and visual inspection my coil has a small crack. Also, when she pings the computer would only pull 3 degrees timing. I was under the impression it should pull out more (maybe 9?) not sure how much more.

Was this a gradual thing that showed up or did you ever hear a loud pop?

Any coolant in your oil? (white foam)

I dont think its a head gasket gripenfilter, but it will be if you hit it. Its detination(spelling) from either bad fuel or poor spark and it you worst enemy. Do you have a scanner? When did this problem happen? Any more information?

I did a hotcam/headers/ppd head w/larger int/exh valves along with pcmforless chip.
Put the car on scanner today and drove around. The only showing up is bad IAT, which I replaced with a friend's but still pinging. The idle stumble I'm told is charecteristic of a cam.
The only thing I can think of is mechanical error. Timing maybe off.
I replaced the chain but was told I didn't need the gears, so 122k gears back in with new chain. When I set the timing, I rotated clockwise (top end off) and kept passing the TDC on the no#1 piston - so on the third try I backed up counterclockwise.
Could the two above be my problem? Car ran perfect before the power upgrades.

i am assuming the iac you put in is in good shape. if there is a code still coming up for that then something has to be wrong there. make sure it is not loose and make sure the throttle body is on tight also. sorry about the lt4 knock module. i did not realize you had a 93. those are different than the newer ones. possibly the tuning is wrong. sorry but i don't know enough about retard to tell you where you should be there.

Sounds like you may have messed up the timing. you need to make sure that dots on the crank and the cam line up perfectly. I made the mistake of being off a tooth and my drove horribly.

Yeah but a bad coil can give you those symptoms, also 93's don't take much timing even in real situations belive me I used to own one, nothing could set off that knock sensor.

Make sure your MAP sensor harness is snuggly plugged in. Alot of times the clip breaks off and the harness backs out.
