Ping and backfire...

I got a 96 m6 car...and I just had a new opti (old one fell apart) plugs and wires on it...after it got worked on it ran great...then started pinging real bad the service engine light started blinking and it ran like crappola...so I scanned it with a snap on...and the someof the results are results are at idle are intake temp 117...knock retard -17 to -23...so I know it is retarding timing to much...my question is have the mods I done cause this...its been hyperteched and has an accel ignition and coil on it...but I set the parameters on the accel box not to also advance timing hoping they wouldn't interfere with each other... I got an LT4 KM (cause I put on long tubes) waiting to go in but I don't think this will solve the problem...I guess I'm checking fuel pressure next to make sure it isn't running lean...any other suggestions would be helpful...or advice...if you need more info or anything let me know...thanks for any help...

ok update if anyone cares...the car sat from fri to mon...starteed up ran like crap...then scanned it...showed misfire cyl #5 so pulled the plug it was wet...thought well maybe it was a freak deal and had a bad plug and just put another plug in it...that was it...didn't do anything else not even disconnect the battery...car ran great for about 15 min on the highway and started missing again...I fully expected to scan it and show a miss at number 5 again and hopefully that would just mean I had a faulty injetctor soaking the plug...but this scan show misfires on multiple cylinders...my mechanic says it acts like its got to cold of a plug in it and they are fouling themselves out...they are autolite 104s...which are a colder plug...I know how picky these cars can be...what works good for one may not work for someone else...so does it sound like a plug problem or do you guys think something else might be causing the misfire...I may disconnect the accel and put the factory coil back on and see if runs better...I dunno...any suggestions...thanks...
