They were 40 series (2 chamber). They're Flowmaster's best selling muffler.

That makes two of us! Two thumbs up on the Magnaflow! Not to mention that it's stainless steel at that price as well.

FWIW, I have the Borla XS. I got it cause it dyno'd the highest, but was also the quietest. True duals with those mufflers sounds great imho. I got sick of the Z71 sound of a stock camaro.

Poor Bastards?????? They were the best 2 yrs ago - do you drive the same car you bought 10 yrs ago? I'd rather buy from a company who wants to improve their own technology!

Those who don't improve with the times gets left behind in the dust - literally!

Just a suggestion.

Honestly I think Flow masters flow pretty good, but with the way the exhaust setup is on the F-bodies I think it makes the muffler restrictive. To many turns and twist for a really good flow. Most of the guys that get good flowbastard results are running them straight through. Anyhow I have headers and a Pipe on now... but when I decided to get my muffler put on it's an XR-1 ... wich is also pretty much a straight through piece. "Lose the Maze"

Hehehehe I just got a new Mig Welder from a kid at school that "Fell off the truck"

So maybe a winter project will be to cut my Flowmaster open, yank some of them ****ed off baffels out, and weld it back shut. I dont see how it would change the tone THAT much if im only removing the V shapped baffel, and cutting the circular ones out larger so it flows free-er. I got the whole cat back for 25$ so I wasnt gonna pas it up, considering the stock exhaust was crushed beyond belief from before i got it when it was totaled.

Does anyone think if I cut the V shaped baffel out, get rid of the baffel in the "last" chamber, and make the other two openings in the baffels larger, it would greatly effect the tone? I figure the chambers will be the same size so it shouldnt change it too much and it will still have that Flowmaster sound to it, with out being as restrictive? Also I dont really care if im only going to gain a pony or two, its better then nothing, and I wanna play with the new welder

If that confuses anyone, what im saying I want to do, look at the pics youll understand what I mean.

O, and I think mindgame hit the nail on the head with his last post.

I think it will significantly affect the sound.

Why do you feel you need less restriction? You only have a stock engine. What do you expect to gain? Maybe a 0.10 in the quarter? On a stock engine doing 14's that's like throwing deck chairs off the Queen Mary to make it faster.

Those earlier posted test data numbers are invalid for single inlet/ dual outlet mufflers. They don't apply to our type mufflers. Removing or modifying the baffles will affect the sound. That is the main reason they are there. To break up the sound waves and reflect them without causing a lot of restriction.

You're right. Flowmaster's crossflow mufflers flow even worse than their 40 and 50 series mufflers. They're very restrictive compared to a good flowing crossflow muffler like Hooker or Magnaflow.
