Re: Pics of #3 rod bearing
The car started to stall when I would come to a stop. I figured it was an EGR issue since I had been getting a code for it. Drove it to diagnose the EGR, stalled at a stop sign, didn't want to crank to good, drove it about a half mile home, started to rap like a rod bearing, and parked it.
Oil pressure was never really bad. It was always a little low at idle since the new cam, but it never dropped to zero. I'm sure there was damage occuring before this major failure, I just didn't see the signs.
Pretty neat the way it extruded the bearing. Neat as in interesting and expensive.

Yeah...from the pics it looks almost like the babbit (sp?) detached from the steel backer.
I know mine went really quick when it let loose.
I might have idled mine for a total of 20 mins to diagnose the issue and when i took the bottom end apart the #4 rod bearing was paper thin.

Re: Pics of #3 rod bearing
You know my car did the same thing after a cam install i jerked that motor out and re-ringed another short block i had and it did the same thing stalling and cranking slow my bearing didnt look that bad but i knew it spun another bearing come to find out the piece of crap oil cooler plugged up and was hitting by-pass putting un filtered oil back in the enigine.I removed the oil cooler and put a standard truck oil filter on and BAM i had 70 psi of oil pressure ive never had that much. The damage was done to i got to build a 355 forged motor out of the deal i tell you what if you have that oil cooler get rid of it!!!The fins are so small in it that if you get any amount of debris in your motor the filter wont catch anything it will all accumulate in the cooler sorry so long want to save you the grief i had

edit: never mind, found that the H series are a type of "77"
