How much

You remember street driving right? Something 4th gear comes in very handy for. I like cruising @ 2200 RPMs in 4th gear @ 60 MPH...With 4.10 gears!
Yes, I can build them to last! Don't make a comment you can't back up. I know I can provide proof of what I claim.

BTW, my '93 will be in the high 10's this year with the 700 in it. Wanna come to Maryland and be amazed?

O.k. lets say that my transmission does decide to bite it on me (Fingers crossed hoping it can't hear me) I have rebuilt it once myself and it has lasted 1 and a half years I did most of the modifications that you mentioned in a previous post. How much would you charge if I shipped my 4L60E to you to rebuild??
Hopefully not anytime too soon.
I am asking the question that I know other people are running through their head and are afraid to hear the outcome but then again we pour tons into our engines to make 500+ hp but then we only want to spend 500-1000 for a transmission upgrade. So give let me know what you charge for the holding strengtht that will hold 500-700hp.

You are kidding right? You do realize that GM makes transmissions for Volvo (part of Ford), BMW, and Rolls Royce? When it comes to transmissions, GM is second to no one. Just because the transmission repair field is dominated by places that can't rebuild any kind of transmission is no reason to blame GM.

Dave, that's the issue in a nutshell...

Now if someone could explain how they get themselves in stupid contracts where they cannot use their own technology in their own cars till well after it's 'new and cool...' (take a look at some of the trannys that they're building for bmw if you don't know what I'm talking about)

Not that this matters much, but our shop onley hires ASE cetified people. And I no for a fact that GMs tranneys suck, atlest the 4l60-80 do

PS I no this for a fact that 60% of our shop $$$$$$ come from tranneys and its even more at other GMs.

I don’t know that you’re really making a good argument for your shop knowing what it’s doing with trannies. Even GM won’t let normal ASE certified techs work on there “top of the line’ trannies (like you have to go to Allison school to work on them and even if you did last I heard you’re still not supposed to tear them apart), and I’d bet that 90% of more of the people that really do know what they’re doing with them are not ASE certified…

FWIW, I don’t know that I’ve seen any engine combo in a normal car that could break a 4L80e and apparently they can’t build them at your dealership also.

Sorry, not picking on you, my point is that unless you’ve got a 10 second, combination that builds serious torque, someone screwed something up building your tranny for you to be having the problems you’re having.

lol ASE certified.. LOL.. ok, got that out of my system..

I've had my transgo in the car now for easily 8k miles.. Probably 50-60 passes on it. Car seems to be holding up just fine. I have no indications of slippage of any kind or rough shifts. The shifts are smooth (2 washer & 2800 Vigilante)..

I'm not sure exactly how I'll set it up when I need a rebuild, it's got 75k miles on it and I just threw a cam in, let's see how long it lasts. But I've been very happy with my TransGo so far.. after the converter the shifts were just gross mushy.. the transgo fixed it right up, shifts just a bit more firm than stock.
