PCMFORLESS questions

I will be ordring a pcmforless chip in a little while and have a few questions about the order form.

1. Do Z/28s have a top speed limiter?
2. The firmer shift option is for 94+ right?
3. What is the stock torque converter stall speed?
4. What is the air pump removal for?
5. How do you know tire size? Is it the one written on the side of the tire?
6. Where is the 4-digit prom number located on the PCM?

Thanks for any replies.

1.) If your car came with Z-rated tires, you don't have a speed limiter (or an easier way to tell is if you have a 115mph speedo - then you have a limiter).

2.) Yes. Shift firmness cannot be controlled on 93s since they are hydraulic.

3.) Stock torque converter stall speed is around 1200 rpm (some are slightly higher for some reason).

4.) Removing the AIR pump is mostly for cosmetic enhancement of the engine bay, and making more room to work with. You'd need to remove the pump and all the lines. Don't forget to plug the holes left in the manifolds and in the intake tract. Keep in mind you'll set an SES light, which is easily cleared via the programming.

Hope this answers your questions.

D'oh! You added 2 more questions...!

5.) Tire size is designated on the sidewall of the tire. If you're stock, they should be either 235/55/16 or 245/50/16.

6.) No clue.

Re: PCMFORLESS questions

1. Do Z/28s have a top speed limiter?
If they have the 115 mph speedo, yes

2. The firmer shift option is for 94+ right?
Yes
3. What is the stock torque converter stall speed?
1700 I believe
4. What is the air pump removal for?
In case you remove your air pump (in areas where their aren't emission checks, people will remove their air pump and cat)

5. How do you know tire size? Is it the one written on the side of the tire?
Yes, it'll be something like 275/50/17

The PROM code is a 4 digit number on the back of (yep, you guessed it) the PROM.
