PCM for Less vs HPP, power diff ?

Have the Hypertech power programmer installed..... but hear good things about the PCM for Less tune. Any big power differences between these, considering the few below bolt-ons?

Thx

In most cases you lose power with the Hypertech where with PCMforless/madz28 you actually gain power

Yes... exactly what Javier said. There's been dyno tests reported in magazines, dyno tests reported here, etc, and the HPP "power tuning" generally loses power compared to stock tuning on anything from a pure stock engine to a mildly modified engine. Using a 160deg t'stat, and the HPP's lower fan on/off temps will net you some added HP, generally less than 10. Let pcmforless or MadZ28 program you stock LT1, and you're probably looking at a quick 15HP gain.

I put the HPP "power tuning" in my 94 way back in 1995, and ran repeated back to back tests using a Vericom performance computer (like a G-tech, but actually works ) and could find no difference whatsoever in performance with and without the "power tuning".

I actually pulled a hypertech program and a stock program off a 95 LT1, and printed out ALL of the tables through Tunercat. The results: A/F was not changed at ALL, and the spark tables were MINIMALLY modified. Most of the changes that I found were in the tranny tables, so that it would shift at different points and a little harder. As Fred said, the lower T-stat and fans keep the engine cooler in traffic.. seems like some power. I highly recommend either custom tuning yourself, or going with some of the mail order tuners and selling your hypertech.

And to add to what I already said and Injuneer said as well, back when I only had bolt-ons, I gained 1.5-2 MPH consistently (my car had lots of track passes before and after in varying conditions) at the track.
