Passenger side wires...

How in the world are you supposed to get off the passenger side wires

I took the tensioner off, but the wires go under some kind of support brace by the clip they are on and the boots will not fit through it.

Am I missing something here

The Haynes manual is again, of no use.

Lemme know if I need to take something else off to do this, and a writeup somewhere would be cool too

Thanks!

In a fit of frustration and rage (that I am sure you are experiencing right now) I swore during last time I changed plug wires, that it would be the last time I changed plug wires on an LT1 parked in an f-body.

On a list of reasons why anyone would not want an LT1 f-body, plug wire changing would have to be at the top.... just above spark plug changing.

I also noticed that the wires I got (duralast, from autozone) are 7mm whereas the stock ones say 7.5mm

Will this cause a problem

I also noticed that there is a second clip on the side of the heads that needs to actually be opened in order to remove the wires

That looks like the hose to the power steering pump that's in your way. You could loosen the pump up and they should pull right through. That's strange though, I've never had a problem getting them to fit.

Yea thats what I think it is

I haven't tried it yet but I may be able to just force it through that tiny slot between the hose and the clamp

I read in other threads that people did loosen it

Do you take the two bolts off completely or just back them off a few turns?

I also just realized that there was another clamp on the side of the head that the wires go through and it seems like its closed off

Do I need to unlatch this, with a screwdriver and pry it up?

I changed my plugs twice with the stock manifolds and the wires once. That was enough to convince me to get MAC headers ... 15 minute plug changes! woo hoo!

^^^ I couldn't agree more! I have Mac Mids and Taylor OTVC wires. I have the best of both worlds because plug and wire changes have never been easier!

eh, just get rid of the air conditioning (hoses, condenser, compressor) and the air pump and all of its b.s. and you'll be done changing plugs and wires in no time.

I had those wires once before and i would not recommend them. They were always arching on each other. I just went back to the delcos and no problems so far.

I just used the wires you have to make rather then the standard set.

Then I made one end... ran it through the little gap in the pics above... and then made the other side before connecting to the Opti.

Now that I have the LTCC... it's made things A LOT easier.

Ok it seems like the wires are clamped down on the passenger side head

It seems as though I can cut the wires, pull them out, then finess a screw driver in and open it up or destroy it, and then just put the new wires through

Doesn't seem like the clamp is very necessary

dont see any moving or hot parts that could cause problems

I cut the pass side wires off and routed the new ones through somewhere else where there is a lot more room. I think it was behind the power steering pump bracket, if you look around you can figure it out. Hope that helps.
