I'm assuming your going to change the oil. When we put motors together or even put new cams in, we usually add a little bottle of zinc to it(can probably get from summit or a local engine shop). You might not need it but we like to have a bit more zinc for new internals.

The zinc additive is only required for flat tappet cams. Once you "upgrade" to a roller weather hydraulic of solid you don't need to worry about the zinc. It originally was added to help to relatively soft lobes of a flat tappet cam survive the first few minutes of running so they can essentially be heat treated by the running engine. Since the roller cams are made from a harder blank to begin with they don't require this "crutch". Now there hasn't been any proof that it's bad for roller engines, but it is well proven that it is not required for a first start up on a roller motor. That's why you can get away with a fire and idle on a roller motor as opposed to fire and 2K RPM for 30 minutes so break in the cam. New materials and practices are what makes this "hobby" as advanced as it is now, where the 600 crank hp build is no longer a science but a regularity.
