Part Number Question
Part Number Question
I checked Shoebox's website but didn't see this.... I am looking for the exhaust hangers that go at the very rear of the exhaust, on the 2 tailpipes. There's nothing really holding my muffler in the air except the y-pipe coming back to it. I want some more support so that it won't break off one day, plus it bounces a lot right now.
Thanks

Re: Part Number Question
For a 93-95 this is the part number 10275709...for some reason it's not listing 96+. It doesn't seem like they changed the cat-backs on any of the LT1 cars so it seems like that one should work for you.
Re: Part Number Question
Alright thanks, but that raises another question...how is that attached to the tail pipe? Does it go around like a clamp, i.e. I can do it myself, or is it supposed to be welded directly to it? Thanks again
Bill
edit: Ok, I just went out and looked at it again. The y-pipe comes back and into the right side (passenger side) of the muffler, right there is a support bracket that is fine. The left side (driver side) tail pipe exiting the muffler is missing the hanger and is about 8 inches below the grommet (?) hanger spot thing on the car. So I am wondering if I couldn't just get a large U-bolt to put through it, if so, would there be rattling noises coming from where the U-bolt is touching the tail pipe?
Thanks

Re: Part Number Question
There would most likely be a rattle when you hit bumps if you just used a U-Clamp. You could do the old coat hanger twisted up there if you want, make it tight enough and it shouldn't make noise...or wrap it in electrical tape so it won't be metal on metal.
