Part number help on plug wires

I'm going to do a tune up on the 96 (plugs, wires, and opti). I'm went to order the wires and called Dal to get them and he said that they are a different part number then for my 95 (see sig). He explained that in 96 they went to a higher voltage wire so it is different part number. The part number for the 96 wires is #12173592 and they list at $109.21, but the 95 part number is #12096439 and the list price is $63.85. Can anyone shed any light as to the truth of this? Can I use the 95 wires and skip the $40 difference. All the aftermarket ones I've found are almost exclusively listed as 93-97, I know that they'd have to use the same routing on the motor and have the same dimensions. So is it worth $46 for the voltage difference.. Anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone have any good recommendations for good aftermarket ones at a similar price? I did a few searches on plug wires, and from what I've read I am not a big fan of the aftermarket plugs b/c they don't fit as well in the stock looms, and there are plenty of guys making big numbers (N2O boost, etc) with stock wires.

I am running the moroso wires because they were 1/2 the price the stock ones. The dealer by me wanted $115 for the '94 wires, so I went to the local speed shop and bought Morosos for $65. They are a little tough to get into the looms, but it will work. I also had to trim the boot that goes onto the coil. It was just a little too long and it pushed off the post causing me to stall while driving down the road, no big deal, shoulda noticed it when i put the wires on.

Yeah aftermarket wires are fine, no radio problems or anything. If your running headers mabee go with over teh valve covers?

The part numbers he gave you are correct. Those are not list prices, but what he sells them for. It is also correct that the coil was changed to a better one in 1996 (and probably why they changed the wires). I believe the coil wire is different because of this, also.

As long as you get the same diameter of aftermarket wire, they should fit fine.

I would prefer to stay with stock ones, so should I order the 95s or 96s? Or is the different coil wire going to cause a problem. I am aware that in 96 they went to a better coil it had one connector and previously they had two connectors. I've previously had some Moroso ones at after 10,000 miles all of them were arcing, and they were difficult to push into the looms.
Almost all aftermarket ones are larger then the 7mm stock ones so they are a pain.

Well, if you get the 95's, the coil wire won't connect to the coil-the plug is different. IMO, I would get the ones for your year car.
