part list, help! cc503

i dropped the engine last night, wasnt bad at all, pulling engine from bottom is the way to go!

anyways i need help putting together a parts list that will work just right for me.

i am doing a .030'' bore, 1.6 comp magnum rocker arms, comp cam high energy hyrolic lifters, cc503, crane 10308-1 springs, hardened 5/16 in push rods.

does all of this sound right? what would you do different, i dont have that much money, so i cant go crazy with all the engine componets, but the list i have seems like it will support the cc503 well.

I didn't see a sig, but if you are doing those mods, you need to have some other mods to support them. Such as a cai, catback, headers, tune (mail or dyno) are at least the basics, some others are lower rear control arms, subframe connectors, wider rear tires. Still more could be done, but without a signature of what you have already along with a budget will go along way with anyone being able to make suggestions.

If you are going with a larger cam you also need larger springs installed. A 503 will destroy factory springs. The rest of your list sounds right. You don't need some high performance lifters, the stock GM roller tip lifters are plenty adequate for what you are doing. You can also use your stock push rods as long as they are not bent. I just rebuilt my engine back in october. I also chose the CC503 and it's a great cam. Very streetable, sounds great and you'll love it!! Make sure if you are doing an engine rebuild you also replace the timing chain and gears with factory GM parts.

I am actually in the process of doing this as well! Here is a general list of what I did

vigilante 3600 stall with a trans cooler
CC503 cam
pac 1218 springs with supporting retainers, locks, etc... 10 degree.
comp cam ultra pro mag 1.6 RR
lifters (dont remember what kind, came with the car)
Basically all the gaskets replaced. mind as well since the motor is out.
Hardened pushrods
EGR block plates since I'm deleting emission ****.
replaced timing chain
converted to obd1 and getting tuned from madz28
pacesetter longtubes with ORY pipe and deleted cats.
and a CAI

I second the timing gear. The reason is chain stretch, I know it expensive but better than a failure.

Also I would suggest at least 30# injectors(SVO) and even a 52mm TB.

Make a Signature so others can help you easier.

If you don't have that much money, id hold on the injectors and tb and do that later personally. I was told by friends to replace the timing chain, so I did.

Re: part list, help! cc503

LS7 Lifters are your best bet and id throw those comp magnums in the garbage. Either Comp Pro Magnums or the Ultras simple as that. Along with the rockers you need ARP Rocker Studs and Guideplates. You will not gain anything upgrading the TB with these mild mods and you will need to upgrade to a 30lb injector as your stock ones will be maxed out.

Edit: Timing chain replacement is a must you would be suprised even with a low miles block how much play they get. There cheap reassurance while your in there its a no brainer to replace.
