So, let me get this striaght... Krylon will keep head gaskets from blowing. All this time I've been using regular hair spray.

Don't let this guy work on your car DUDE.

Make sure to use a high performance buckle on the fan belt.

Re: Paint the headgaskets?

Back when head gaskets were stamped metal single layer steel, we would spray paint them with silver paint to give the water jacket a chance to seal. Nowadays, some guys use a gasket dressing on MLS & copper gaskets, but the regular composite or mesh gaskets should go on as is.

Re: Paint the headgaskets?

I recently replaced a blown gasket on my Son's BMW 535i. I used the copper spray and it certainly did not create any problems. If it helped, I have no actual knowledge therewith. I recall my auto shop teacher explaining the process and why, (dead memory cells can't recall exactly why).

I figured for a few dollars of insurance it was worth it. Just hang the gasket from a tree with a coat hanger and spray it. Let it sit for a couple of hours or so, it'll be somewhat tacky. Then put it all back together.
