Even with the cats, you are still in violation for the simple fact that you have the cats moved from their stock locations...

AFAIK in NY, as long as the car has over 50k on it, you can move (or replace with aftermarket parts) the cats as long as they are present and working. Not sure about other states.

I've got the arizona speed & marine mid length / random tech y pipe combo and have passed emissions inspection 3 years running. Upstate NY doesn't have to pass a sniffer test, but I have no doubts that it would if need be.

Won't the built in heat shield and header heat tape be enough? I wouldn't go and bend them
I heat taped the lines, and I also used header wrap from the header collectors to the end of the Y-pipe...havent had any issues with it, other than bottoming out on the y-pipe and ripping the header wrap, its kind of a bitch to re-wrap.

Having the minicat on the drivers side, I had enough room where I didn't have to wrap anything or relocate fuel/brake lines, ect. However, under heavier acceleration, the cat would tap on the torque arm so I temporarily wrapped it with some header wrap to dull the sound. Once I got the chassis mounted torque arm, I didn't have to worry about that anymore.

The cats get extremely hot so I don't think heat tape will do it. Its pretty easy to bend the lines and get them out of the way. No special tools required. You'll need some sort of strap and a screw to keep them from hanging down too low.

BTW if you put the cats in be sure to hook up the air pump system. The cats will clog in short order without that system working during the open loop period when the car is cold.

Do you guys think putting 2 universal "higher flow" cats will reduce performance much? More than 5 hp?

Also, how long extensions for the O2 will be needed? 12" + 24" ?

The high flow cats should do little to impact the performance in a negative way. I used the 12" harness extensions, I originally had the 24" ones, but they were too long.

Heres some pics of my catted y with Pacesetter's. These are Magnaflow 3" cats. Keep in mind I have a Spohn chasis mount trq arm which gives a bit more room for the driver side cat. I also bent the fuel lines straight across as you can see in the one pic. When bending the lines just becareful not to kink them. I also have an off road y and I run the same mph at the track so I'm pretty sure its not costing much power. I have never dynoed with and without but track perfomance speaks for its self. Passed the sniffer test in Ontario too

96flame, what are your track numbers like? Those looked tucked extremely well, are you lowered?

Will this set of extensions work for me? Look at the endings.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

He'll ship them to me cheap for 5$.

On the sites they're 25$ each w/o shipping. I'm saving about 15$

It specifies they are the flat connector type, that is what you need for the front 02 sensors. The rear 02 sensors use the square connectors.

Maybe I have a sensitive nose, it was definitely there though. I've heard the same from others.

96flame: I hope my install will end up clean like yours. I'll use the pictures as reference when I go to the shop to get the job done!

I have mine setup really close to the way 96Flame's has it (except with a ton of rust on mine), and I have the after cat O2's hooked up.

It passes PA emissions, so it's doable.

The way it was there I ran a best of 12.14@115mph the car was lowered on sportlines and the lowest point was the drivers side collector at 4" clearance.
