Re: Pacesetter anyone use them???

Well, I'll let ya know how they do in comparison to Mac mids real soon. I've got a set of Pacesetter coated long-tubes and ORY on the way and will be replacing my current 1 5/8's Mac's with these. Hopefully there wont be too much trouble getting em in there, and hopefully I wont be choking the motor anymore. We'll see.

I have the coated race version with the ORY pipe. I absolutely love mine! They still look great and have been on the car for quite a while now. The install went real good, time consuming but not hard. The hardest part about it was getting the car up high enough with the use of jackstands, blocks, and a small jack. You can't go wrong with these.

Re: Pacesetter anyone use them???

only thing that has bothered me is the y-pipe doesn't seal where it connects to the collocter, and when i launch my car or i floor it the y-pipe hits the floor boards. i'm not sure but maybe after i put the subframes on, it might not hit the floor boards anymore. and the collecter leak is just a matter of buying some band clamps like the ones that the Borla catback uses. other than that i must say its the best thing i could have bought other than the stall.

What 3" y pipe can I use that will bolt onto Pacesetter LT's?

I hear you get rid of the y pipe banging by getting poly motor mounts.

that i know of only the pacesetter y-pipe works, or a custom made one. and another thing i doesnt bolt up, cuz it has slip fit collectors. if anyone needs one i have the pacesetter y-pipe if anyone wants it? only thing is it needs to be extended to slip over the collectors, in an effort to stop the hitting of the floor boards i cut them off and was going to make my own extensions to stop the vibration. but since i had all the exhaust off i just put on some duals

Talking Re: Pacesetter anyone use them???

Here's an update (for anyone interested in Pacesetter info)...

Replaced Mac 1 5/8" mids with Pacesetter 1 3/4" race version (no egr, no air).

These headers are a solid product. The flages are very thick, and mine were perfectly flat. Good news, since I don't like breathing exhaust gas and listening to leaks! The new PS's went on remarkably easily. Much easier than the old Mac's came OFF I might add. Passenger side went in from the top, and driver side went in from the bottom (only had the car about 18" in the air too. I really thought I was going to need more height than that, but it slipped right in there!).

The collectors are slip-fit, which I like. What I DON'T like is the C-collar type clamps that came with the headers, so I went off to NAPA and picked up some stainless 3" band clamps. Those things are the hot ticket for this setup, no doubt! All in all, I would rate the pacesetter install about a 4 on a 1 - 10 scale. I literally had the headers in there (just sitting mind you, not bolted up yet) in less than 15 minutes once the old ones were out of the way. Absolute cake. My only gripe is that they included wire to extend the O2's. I think headers of this quality should come with prefabbed O2 extensions.

The motor seems to rev much more freely than before. No performance numbers yet, but I'm hoping to see maybe a couple tenths from there things. Will know pretty soon when I can get it back out to the track. The SOTP meter is a MOST unreliable method! Spend enough, and your SWEAR you picked up no matter WHAT you installed. hehe The track is the only place to tell..

Good headers....
