p1657 skip shift code both plugged into tranny and eliminator
Finished the 3.4 to LT1 swap and the only SES code IVe got is the skip shift code p1657. At first it was plugged into the tranny and I got the code so I decided to try an eliminator and I still get it. Not sure whether its actually skip shifting whens its plugged in because Ive only driven it up and down the road twice and I wasnt at 35% or less throttle coming out of 1st. Anyone else had this
Re: p1657 skip shift code both plugged into tranny and eliminator
IM going to try to get a wiring schematic for this circuit and see if there is a ground maybe isnt grounded. Any other ideas?
Re: p1657 skip shift code both plugged into tranny and eliminator
yeah sure did cleared it while plugged into the tranny and started it then 2 seconds later the light comes on so i cleared it then plugged it into eliminator and started it and 2 seconds and light comes on. I tried it a few times both ways and same result. Didnt see a wiring schematic on mitchell but I only had a few minutes so Ill look when I have more time

Hard to help without knowing the year harness and PCM you used, but Shoebox has the 95 wiring diagrams on his Tech Pages. The skip shift solenoid is powered of the same fuse as the reverse lockout... does that work?

The skip shift is at the bottom of that diagram. I dont quite understand that diagram. Is the point where those 6 leads come together supposed to be ground or what. Also its very unclear because one lead simply says "to other circuits."

Re: p1657 skip shift code both plugged into tranny and eliminator
The cluster of wires is attached to Fuse #6 in the underhood panel. That's the +12V supply to the solenoids. The PCM supplies the ground to activate the solenoid.
Re: p1657 skip shift code both plugged into tranny and eliminator
Ok Ive got power at the underhood electrical box and also at the brown wire on the plug. THe only thing I can think now is that the pcm is checking for the wrong resistance. I had the pcm tuned a while back but didnt check the codes before I had it tuned so maybe it got screwed up at that point. Any more ideas would be appreciated

Yeah I thought I had it removed. I emailed Bryan and asked because he keeps records of all that stuff. Just waiting on a reply back.
