P0336 code

have this P0336 - Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance, code. I've checked all wires coming from the sensor and made sure they weren't pinched, burned or frayed..Even bought a new sensor and still same problem.. Last yr I replaced the opti because it was shot and this is basically when the problem showed up.. The funny thing is the car runs fine except for alittle burbling after I let off on the accerator.. This is on a 97 Z28, Any ideas?

Re: P0336 code

Could be a loose or damaged reluctor wheel. Might possibly be a problem with high voltage wires run close to and in parallel with the CKP sensor wires.

The CKP sensor problem won't affect the way the engine runs. Its just there to check for misfires.

Re: P0336 code

No high voltage wires going by the sensor, or sensor wires.. Maybe another bad opti? But who want's to to spend another $300 seeing if it's really the problem.. Cause when I installed the last 1 it was forced on by my dumbass buddy who may have damaged it in some way.. Anyone have simular problems?

Re: P0336 code

A 336 is a performance issue. It's not getting the signal it should. If the others tests passed then the wiring is hooked up and working. Seems either the reluctor or the timing cover was damaged when your buddy put the opti on. Pull the CKP and see if it has scrape marks or metal on it.

Re: P0336 code

There are no scraps on CPK sensor, and no signs of any metal on it.. Another buddy of mine has access to alldata and 1 of the symptoms that cause the code is caused by an improper install of opti by forcing the opti into place with the mounting screws..Which my dumb@ss buddy proceeded to do.. So who knows what type of damage it does in there but car is getting worse as time goes on.. Backfiring more than burbling...Soooo I am looking into buying yet another opti, doubt that I'll buy another GM opti, looking more towards the ACCEL or even the Summit opti 2 which basically are 1 and the same...AHHHH justa another $300 and 1 1/2 hr job I didn't want to do...
